The Midland Central Environmental Reference Group (MCERG)

This group run by the Midland Redevelopment Authority provides a conduit between the community and the MRA.

The issues focused on are primarily the clean up of the old government railway Workshop site to enable development.

However MRA have shared other information which has enabled the association to tell our community what is happening and how it may benefit or impact on Bellevue.

The representative on this group is Martin Chape JP. He may be contacted through this web site.
The Bellevue Community Consultative Committee (BCCC)

This committee run by Department of Environment & Conservation (DEC) meets to deal with the clean up of the Waste Control fire contaminated site.

In 2001 a large chemical fire placed Bellevue and its residents at risk. A lack of information on what was stored on the site and 800,000 liters of firewater contaminated the ground on the site.

Work has been carried out by DEC to control storm water to minimize contamination moving off site and the 2010 installation of a permeable reactive barrier to protect the Helena River at the same time working towards remediation of the site itself. More information is available on the DEC website.

This group has met at over eighty meetings and a series of workshops have been held. The representative on this group is Martin Chape JP and may be contacted through this web site for further information. Alternatively contact DEC. Information is also available on this site under Bellevue/Local Issues off the main menu.
